Both Robertson County Schools and Sumner County Schools use curriculum that meet the Academic Standards set by the Tennessee Department of Education. The standards emphasize the skills, knowledge, and critical awareness that students should develop in each course. To prepare students for life in a global economy, respect for and appreciation of diversity is not only essential but very useful for later success. The school also stresses community involvement through service and volunteering in the hopes that students will become engaged, active citizens and successful individuals.

We currently cover the following White House-area school districts: Robertson County Schools and Sumner County Schools.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the White House District Curriculum

The science curriculum at in both districts encourage students to investigate, explore and analyze systems, cycles, and models. It also teaches students how to apply science to inquiry, by arguing ideas, working through a process of trial and error, predicting results and verifying whether they are accurate. Part of the science curriculum includes environmental science. In this class, all aspects of environmental impacts are studied, such as the risks from a developing world and population growth.

Civics/Government is a part of the social studies curriculum for all students. Through this class, students learn about the government of their community and nation while comparing it to other governments throughout the world. They also learn about the cultural and physical aspects of these same areas. Chalk Talk: Tips for Teen Volunteers

Tips for Teen Volunteers Volunteering is a good way for teens to find out if a certain career would be a good fit. However, they do need reminding that even though they may not be receiving pay they still have responsibilities. First, the teens should not skip a day, unless they are ill. This is easy to forget when they do not receive a paycheck, but this sets up good work standards for the future. Second, they need to remember if they have questions to go ahead and ask. If they do not understand something this is the best way to clarify things. Finally, if there is something that needs to be done, they should go ahead and do it, even if they aren’t asked to. Each of these items will help set the teen up to be successful in whatever career they decide to embark on.
