Woodlake District and Curriculum

The curriculum which is used in the Woodlake schools provides a series of objectives for what teachers need to cover in their instruction. The goal is to provide all students with high quality standards of learning, a clear framework for the development of subject-area knowledge, and the higher-order thinking skills which arise from their learning.

Language Arts was organized around reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students read for pleasure and for information, and are expected to develop the ability to decode meaning, use context to clarify points within the text, and to analyze and evaluate the quality of information. The development of writing processes that include brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing teach students the steps to prepare written communication for the most formal purposes.

We currently cover the following Woodlake-area school district: Woodlake Unified School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Woodlake District Curriculum

Math and Science are areas that have become emphasized in many enrichment programs and are often combined with Engineering and Technology to teach students a more complete framework for these subjects. The overarching goals are to teach the problem-solving and process-oriented thinking that goes along with these areas, while also developing the strategies with which students can approach a problem and solve it.

The objectives within the curriculum are the basis for formal and standardized assessments that students take in core academic subjects. The assessments measure proficiency in all the skill areas so that students can understand where their strengths and weaknesses are and instruction can be tailored to fit their individual needs.
