EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

The goal of education is to enrich the lives of students while producing articulate, expressive thinkers and lifelong learners. Modeling social responsibilities, perseverance, and active community citizenship is an unspoken responsibility for me as an educator.

Education is about teaching students, engaging students, and maximizing the learning potential of each and every child. Education is about looking beyond a student?s intellect, and seeing the whole child. It is about providing students with opportunities to be challenged, persevere, and then succeed at the goals they have set for themselves.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

My education began with the birth of my first child. Suddenly there was this bright eyed little girl who looked to me for everything! What a wonderful reality it was for me to begin her educational process! It planted and idea in my mind that maybe this would be a good career choice for me. After my son was born, I entered a Teacher’s Program. It took 6 and 1/2 years part time but I graduated with honors in early childhood education!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My first assignment was second grade and in an impoverished town that needed more than just a good education for their children, but I persevered through a lack of supplies and current teaching materials to teach 22 students. I found a few things out about myself like I enjoyed teaching math! Geometry and measuring were especially easy for me to portray to 7 and 8 year olds. When we learned to draw 3D shapes I was right in my element and found that they learned it better than any of the other 2nd grade classes! So instead of bragging I brought their classes in and taught them to draw the 3D shapes also.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I love to read, swim, walk, and travel in my spare time.
