Teachers must meet students academic and social needs. As a teacher, I must be familiar with the curriculum in order to present it accurately and creatively in order to meet the individual needs of my students. I must also create an atmosphere with my students that makes them feel that they are capable of being successful. Raising a student’s confidence and esteem is an essential part of being a teacher.
I attended college in Baton Rouge at a college that partnered with an elementary school. We had ample opportunities over the 4 years to be involved with actual classes/teachers. I graduated from there with a B.S. in elementary education. Over my years of teaching, I have also taken many classes to earn professional learning units for certification renewal. I also have and continue to participate in required in-service training.
I have 12 years of teaching experience, 3 of which have taken place in the virtual setting. I’ve taught grades 1 and 3-8. I’ve taught all subjects related to those grade levels. I have also participated in after school tutoring.
I’m highly involved in my church activities that include working with outreaches geared to neighborhood children. I also participate in our weekly music program singing solos and in a group.
