EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Every student can learn and improve their understanding. I believe that the connection between the student and the teacher can help motivate students to persist at difficult problems. When student start to see their own achievements, they develop self-motivation to continue the learning, hopefully to help create more life-long learners.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I had an excellent experience with education. Each new challenge brought great interest and knowledge. I love taking courses to enhance my understanding of mathematics and pedagogy. In University I especially likes the fixed point theory as well as the topology and euclidean algebra courses. Recently I have taken a course on how to best teach mathematics through Stanford’s Online courses. I believe that continuing your learning is important.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I am certified to teach in the province of Ontario.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching mathematics for over 8 years. Each new school and new class has helped me to better understand how students learn and how to best teach. I hope that my future experiences are as amazing.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I love coaching. I have luckily been able to coach soccer (both girls and boys), chess club, track and field as well as working with students in homework club. Each coaching opportunity has enhanced my student connection as well as allowed me to witness students in more athletic environments. They demonstrate teamwork and a strong connection to their teammates which can help with better understanding of the students in the classroom.
