If he sells it for more price than he purchased, then he makes profit other he is at loss.<\/p>\n<p>Let,<\/p>\n<p>CP = cost price, the cost of the item shop owner paid<\/p>\n<p>SP = selling price, the price the shop owner gets on selling the same item<\/p>\n<p>If the shop owner sells the item for more than paid for it, SP &gt; CP, then profit is given as<\/p>\n<p><strong>Profit = selling price (SP) \u2013 cost price (CP)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the shop owner sells the item for less than paid for it, SP &lt; CP, then loss is given as<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loss = cost price (CP) \u2013 selling price (SP)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Loss and Profit can be calculated in percent also using the below formulas:<\/p>\n<p>Loss % = (Loss\/Cost price) \u00d7 100<\/p>\n<p>Profit % = (Profit\/Cost price) \u00d7 100<\/p>\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n<p>John bought a bicycle for $339 and sold to a buyer for $382.
