The Trigonometric rations are used to express relationship between angles and sides of a right triangle ( a triangle with one 90\u00b0 angle).<\/p>\n<p>The non-right angle is usually designated by a greek letter \u03b8 (theta). The sides of the triangle are labeled according to the angles of the triangle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/schooltutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/trig-ratio.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-168\" src=\"https:\/\/schooltutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/trig-ratio.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The side opposite to right angle is designated as <strong>hypotenuse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The side opposite to the angle \u03b8 is labeled as <strong>opposite side<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The side (other than hypotenuse) next to the angle \u03b8 is the <strong>adjacent side.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are six trigonometric ratios of these three sides<strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/schooltutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/trig-ratio-table1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-174\" src=\"https:\/\/schooltutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/trig-ratio-table1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"469\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Sine, Cosine and Tangent<\/strong> are the basic trigonometric ratios. <strong>Cosecant, Secant and Cotangent<\/strong> are reciprocals (inverted fractions) of Sine, Cosine and Tangent respectively.<\/p>\n<p>To remember the ratio for basic trigonometric ratios a very common mnemonic SOH CAH TOA is used.The mnemonic stands for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>S<\/strong>ine is <strong>O<\/strong>pposite over <strong>H<\/strong>ypotenuse<\/p>\n<p><strong>C<\/strong>osine is <strong>A<\/strong>djacent over <strong>H<\/strong>ypotenuse<\/p>\n<p><strong>T<\/strong>angent is <strong>O<\/strong>pposite over <strong>A<\/strong>djacent<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In greek \u2018Trig\u2019 means triangle and \u2018metic\u2019 is for measurement.
