In two-dimensional shapes there is a line of symmetry, in three-dimensional figures a plane of symmetry. The line and plane of symmetry can be in any direction. A shape can have more than one line or plane of symmetry.<\/p>\n<p>The simplest type of symmetry is reflection symmetry which is also known as reflectional symmetry, line symmetry, mirror symmetry, mirror-image symmetry, or bilateral symmetry. The figure which does not change upon undergoing a reflection has reflectional symmetry.<\/p>\n<p>Below are some shapes that possess reflection symmetry.
