Except for irregular verbs, the past participle is usually that form of the verb ending in \u201c-ed.\u201d The progressive form of <em>perfect tense <\/em>verbs is constructed similarly, but done so to accommodate the \u2018present participle\u2019 form of a verb &#8211; the form ending in \u201c-ing.\u201d The following are explanations and examples of <em>present<\/em>, <em>past<\/em>, and <em>future<\/em> <em>perfect tense<\/em> verb forms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Present Perfect Tense<\/strong> indicates an action began in the past but continues, or is completed in the present.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Many people <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">have wondered<\/span> about the the origins of the English language.<\/li>\n<li>The English language <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">has baffled<\/span> many non-native speakers.<\/li>\n<li>Non-native speakers <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">have been struggling<\/span> with the English language. (progressive)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Future Perfect Tense <\/strong>indicates an action happening in the future, to be completed in the future at a specific time or before some other action.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By the time the satellite exits the solar system, it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">will have traveled<\/span> more than 1 billion miles through open space.<\/li>\n<li>When the satellite exits the solar system, it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">will have been traveling<\/span> at a speed of 25,000 miles per second for 42 years.
