The perpendicular distance from one base to the other base is called the <strong><em>altitude<\/em><\/strong> of the trapezium.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/SchoolTutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/10\/trap2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4419\" title=\"trap2\" src=\"https:\/\/SchoolTutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/10\/trap2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The line segment joining the mid points of the legs of a trapezium is called its <strong><em>median<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/SchoolTutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/10\/trap3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4420\" title=\"trap3\" src=\"https:\/\/SchoolTutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/10\/trap3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"104\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Perimeter of a trapezoid:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The perimeter of a trapezoid is the sum of its two bases and two legs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Area of a trapezoid:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we combine two equal trapezoids by making one of its copy by 180 degrees and merging it to the other trapezoid, we get a parallelogram.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/SchoolTutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/10\/trap4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4421\" title=\"trap4\" src=\"https:\/\/SchoolTutoring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/10\/trap4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"84\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We know that the area of a parallelogram is base times its height. But here the base of the parallelogram would be the sum of the bases of the trapezoid a+b, where its height is h.<\/p>\n<p>So the area of parallelogram = (a+b)h<\/p>\n<p>Since the parallelogram is made of trapezoids of same area, the area of trapezoid would be half the area of the parallelogram.<\/p>\n<p>So, the area of trapezoid = <strong><em>(a+b)h\/2<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do you also need help with Standardized Tests?
