About Me

SUBJECTS

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that a structured plan will allow most students to achieve their academic goals. Many students fail to realize that the reason they are not comprehending a subject is because they are learning it the wrong way. Knowledge sticks through association and repetitive study techniques, and not by simple note taking. In general, most students want to succeed and confidence runs concurrent with success.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Throughout high school I was always an A-B student. Once I graduated, I attended Dalhousie in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I studied History and English.

Upon completion of my degree at Dalhousie, I enrolled in a B.Ed. Program at Crandall University in Moncton, New Brunswick. My combined GPA for my undergrad and B.Ed was in the 3.3-3.4 area. I am currently working on my MA in History through the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a certified teacher. I have worked in the capacity of an Instructional Aide in New Jersey, an Educational Assistant in New Brunswick, and Technology Teacher in Maine. My combined teaching experience is approximately around 2 years. I have experience working with students with exceptionalities, and have taught most subject matter at one time or another during my student teaching internship in Nova Scotia.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I volunteered as an EMT in my local and neighbouring communities for a number of years in high school and college. I was involved with philanthropic events through the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Dalhousie University. Most recently I was involved with raising $1000 for the IWK Children’s Hospital. I’ve recently been more involved with assisting PTO organizations in the schools.
