Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Arcadia District Curriculum

In Language Arts, communication and reading skills are developed. Students read both literary and non-fiction texts, develop writing processes, and develop other modes for communicating. In Math, students are introduced to topics in numerical operations, statistics, probability, algebra and geometry in a progress that introduces more complex topics each year. The Science curriculum also provides a set of standards for learning in earth science, biology, physics, chemistry, environmental science and technology.

The curriculum is used by teachers to plan the learning objectives for each unit of study. Statewide assessments in core subjects are aligned to the standards to ensure that students are achieving these expectations.
