Chalk Talk: Early Action

Early Action is an early, non-binding college application type. This means that students apply typically by November 15 and are free to either attend the college, if accepted, or enroll elsewhere. This is a hard due-date, which means that all materials must be submitted, including standardized test scores. This can be a challenge for some applicants since testing dates often line up unfavorably with application deadlines. Because it’s early, colleges tend to favor Early Action somewhat, and it has a higher acceptance rate than Regular Decision applications, though not as high as Early Decision. It is often a relief to students to have finished their applications early and not have to worry about any additional restrictions, though, which makes Early Action a popular choice.
