Chalk Talk: The Importance of Classroom Management
Often many classes are so large that teachers may find it overwhelming to regulate the behavior of every student. However, regardless of the size of the class, teachers can ensure that consistent rules and guidelines are established well before the beginning of the term and are understood and reviewed by all students. Many teachers have found it useful to make sure that the seating arrangements are conducive for teaching, learning and moving around students in and out of groups, particularly for the primary levels. Classroom management is more effective when teachers structure the classroom and the actual lessons to help enhance learning for students. Teachers that promote students' physical fitness by having them take a short exercise break will help increase students' enthusiasm and prevent boredom. Appointing a leader in a group will help ensure that students' learning is kept on track and focused. The way that the materials and resources are arranged needs to be considered for ease of access and more efficient learning.
