Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Belmont District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum focuses on how to read literary and informational texts, write for a range of purposes, use a writing process, and to listen and speak with critical thinking skills. Student learning in Math details the skills of numeracy, algebra, geometry and data analysis and the curriculum emphasizes that students become able to determine the best method to solve any mathematical problem.

In the Sciences, students are instructed in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and technology. Each of these areas helps students to develop certain types of thinking skills like interpretation, analysis, reasoning, problem-solving and process-oriented thinking. These allow students to approach more complex subjects as they progress.

Belmont District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The curriculum used in Belmont schools provides a framework that describes the expectations for learning across the content areas. The subject area expectations are the skills and knowledge that students should develop at the appropriate grade-level. Students must become proficient in these grade-level expectations in order to be prepared for the next grade.

We currently cover the following Belmont-area school district: Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, Sequoia Union High School District.
