The science curriculum includes coursework in physical geology. Students examine igneous rocks, examining them for intrusive or extrusive properties. Mafic and felsic rocks and minerals are also studied. Pressure, stress, and compressional forces on metamorphic rocks are another subject of study. Students learn about degrees of metamorphism as well. Learners also analyze sedimentary rocks, noting how wind, rain, and other weather forces act upon them. The physical geology curriculum also delves into various minerals. Students learn about the various kinds of mineral bonds, including ionic, metallic, and covalent.
Blacklick Estates’ financial literacy curriculum is designed to help students better understand credit, debt, and other financial topics. Students learn methods for being accountable for their finances, including using credit wisely and not amassing too much debt. The different types of debt are studied, including home loans, credit cards, and student loans. Investments are another topic of study. Learners explore various ways that people can make their money work for them, including investing in the stock market.

SchoolTutoring Academy Increased My SAT Score By 200 Points
My son’s math marks in high school have always been weak so I found it very beneficial that his ACT tutor worked on solidifying his fundamentals while prepping for the ACT.
SchoolTutoring Academy gave my daughter the confidence she needed to boost her SAT score Thank you!
SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

- Book Club Meets Virtually - Sixth and seventh graders at Middle School North can participate in the school’s book club in person or online. The club uses Twitter to have conversations and connect with one another outside of school. This is a great way to generate enthusiasm about the books that students are reading, and also to encourage discussion of these texts.
- Literacy Night Sees Huge Crowd - More than 900 people attended the recent Literacy Night at Groveport Madison Schools. Students in preschool through the third grade, as well as their families, participated in the night’s activities. The goal is to connect students to books so that they start off their schooling by learning how to enjoy reading, then building on that so they can really learn from what they are reading.
- High School Receives Grant - Groveport Madison High School recently received a $2,500 grant from the Ohio Department of Education. The grant money will fund professional development for Advanced Placement Teachers and help them develop the tools and instructional methods they will use to deliver a more rigorous curriculum to students.
Chalk Talk: Packing for School
Packing to prepare youngsters for each school day can be a challenge for parents. First, they have to make sure all of their child's folders (with their homework inside!), notebooks, textbooks, and writing utensils are in their backpack. For young children, it would be a good idea for parents to pack an extra set of clothes for children to keep in their lockers in case of an accident. Another thing parents need to be aware of is which "special" students have the next school day. For example, if it is library day, it is important that students remember to bring back library books. Starting in middle school and sometimes earlier, students will be required to bring a change of clothes (athletic apparel). It is important for students to remember to bring their gym clothes athletic shoes as well if they are not already wearing them.
