Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Brentwood District Curriculum
The district also has a special needs program for students who need it. These students are also evaluated and each has an individualized learning plan written up for them designed to help them achieve at their best within the district. The curriculum, however, is broadly written so that teachers have the ability to instruct students as they need to learn and still achieve all the learning goals. Additionally, on assessments, students receive accommodations to their testing environment, timing requirements, and other situational requirements
Students from elementary school through high school learn Core curriculum in accordance with state standards. They are also provided with classes in the arts and music, PE, health, technology, social studies, science, and many others. High school students are asked to select electives based on their interests and goals which will best prepare them to accomplish their college or and life goals after high school.

Chalk Talk: How to Encourage your Child Learning English
If your child is learning English as a second language, they have unique challenges as well as talents that they can bring the classroom. Your child will have a broader experience base from which to evaluate information as well as understanding other ways of thinking. It may be challenging, at first, for your child to integrate into the school due to the language barrier. Thankfully there are things that the school will do to help as well as things that you can do to ease the transition. First of all, learn English with your child. Their school should provide special English courses and resources for your child as well as resources in other classes to help your child understand his or her other materials. Talk to your child’s teachers and find out how you can help your child. Finally, make English fun at home. Instead of it being a chore, make it a game. And never forget that your child has a unique heritage worth preserving. As much as you speak English in the home, providing a few “safe” times to speak their mother tongue will be helpful as well.
