The five elementary schools in the Elmbrook School District all focus on key core subjects. The Elmbrook School District has two middle schools. In language arts, students are exposed to basic English conventions such as grammar and mechanics. Writing and speech skills are also taught. Common core middle school math standards focus on measurement, algebra, and geometry, and decimals and fractions. Advanced students can take pre-algebra or algebra 1 in eighth grade.
The Elmbrook School District requires four English credits for high school graduation and focus heavily on literature and critical thinking skills. Writing is also stressed. Students learn about and practice each type of writing style with helpful lectures and hands-on activities. Chalk Talk: Art and Music Classes
From an early age, children should be encouraged to participate in art and music classes. These classes are not strictly educational – meaning they don’t teach children reading, writing, and ‘rithmatic – but they are still essential to a child’s development. Art and music classes encourage a student’s creativity and give him a place to express his true self. Art and music foster fine motor skills and teach life lesson such as diligence and dedications. Art and music classes give children the opportunity to explore new interests, which might shape their future development and personalities. Most students require elementary students to participate in art and music classes. Although these subject are optional in middle and high school, students should still consider taking them in order to receive lifelong benefits.
