Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Celina District Curriculum
As part of the financial literacy curriculum Celina students participate in a study of business education. A central component of the curriculum is business law. Students examine the various laws that govern business practices and protect consumers. State and federal laws that relate to consumer protection are identified, and the manner in which those laws protect against substandard services and goods is analyzed.
Celina’s fine arts curriculum includes a robust visual arts program. At the elementary level, students are introduced to basic artistic concepts. Students learn about various art forms, including painting, sculpture, and drawing, and utilize various materials and tools to create their own art. The role of emotional expression in art is explored, and kids learn how to tell a story through what they create. A wide range of subject matter is utilized for the creation of art as well. Students create works that reflect various feelings and emotions, and are representative of themselves, their friends, and family members.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Benefits of CTE
CTE, or Career and Technical Education, is an integral component of many public school curricula, and rightfully so. CTE offers a variety of benefits to students. First, CTE courses introduce students to the world of work. Through interest inventories, students can develop an understanding of the type of career for which they are best suited. Researching various careers also informs students of the educational requirements for potential careers, which allows them to more accurately plan their high school and college schedules. Second, the hands-on nature of many CTE courses engages kids in learning that is both interesting and immediately applicable to the workplace. Gaining these valuable on-the-job skills further promotes understanding of what it takes to begin a particular career as well. Lastly, career and technical courses introduce students to high-demand careers that are experiencing rapid growth. Courses in the biosciences, sustainability, and technology are popular options that prepare students for success in the 21st century.
