Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Châteauguay District Curriculum

The schools in the region use the curriculum developed by the province which describes the expectations of learning across subject areas at all grade levels. The province has developed curriculum specific to elementary and secondary education, religious education, intercultural education, special education, and adult and continuing education.

The design of the curriculum offers a framework to organize the teaching and learning within each subject area. There are measurable outcomes described within the subjects that comprise what a student needs to learn to be proficient in the subject. These learning outcomes were developed based on national and international research on best practices in curriculum design and teaching practice.
