Rather than focusing solely on skills of reading and writing the curriculum of English Language and Arts emphasizes on developing vocabulary, fluency, phonics, reading with comprehension and writing in such a way that complements the content of other subjects and also meets the demands of career and college level. Students participate in oral presentation and discussion and learn to write on variety of genres such as poems, letters (formal and informal), journals, and fiction and non-fiction stories.

Teachers use rich and challenging content to engage students in solving real world problems and inspire greater interest in the subject. - College and Career Fair - The district organizes college and career fairs in the month of October at Chicopee high school each year. The aim of this career fair is to help the students in college planning process and speak directly with college reps, financial aid officers and community partners.
- Annual Art Fest - Chicopee Public Schools organized 5th annual art fest offered students a chance to showcase their talents. The show was held at Chicopee public library and presented the works of students from Chicopee High School, Chicopee Comprehensive High School, Chicopee Academy and Career & Technical Education Program.
