Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Clearlake District Curriculum

The framework for Language Arts focuses on communication skills, reading and writing strategies, and the development of critical thinking. In Math, the curriculum serves to expand knowledge in numeracy, algebra, geometry and data analysis each year. In the Sciences, students take full year courses in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and technology and the scientific principles that they will learn are explained in the curriculum.

The design of the curriculum is to broadly lay out the goals of each subject. Each year, students gain deeper knowledge, stronger problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate ideas and this helps students to develop important critical thinking skills that they will use in college.

Clearlake District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The schools in Clearlake follow a curricular model which provides measurable learning objectives for students within the different subjects. For each subject, a broad framework is outlined and then the details regarding what skills students are expected to develop each year are clearly laid out. Teachers are able to plan their broad teaching goals in alignment to this framework while still relying on their own original ideas to teach each topic.

We currently cover the following Clearlake-area school district: Konocti Unified School District.
