Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Clovis District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum develops understanding in reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. The emphasis on these areas develops critical thinking and analytic skills in students and support learning in other areas. In Math, students are taught numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year.  The problem solving skills taught in the core subject of math helps students master more complex learning material.

When students advance in their learning and choose to enter a specialized program that is either skills oriented like a Technology or Culinary program, or enter a college preparatory program like Advanced Placement, curriculum are used that provide a similar framework and often introduce other subjects into the teaching of the content.
