Educating Our Parents: Understanding the East Providence District Curriculum

The schools follow the Common Core Standards, focusing on Literacy and Math. The Language Arts curriculum focuses on reading comprehension, language awareness, writing abilities, and communication abilities. Over the years, these are developed so that students are capable of performing at higher analytic levels of learning. In Math, through topics in algebra, geometry, data analysis and statistics, students learn ways to understand and communicate about math problems, and develop the means to understand the best way to solve them.

East Providence strives to instill a love of learning from a young age. As a result, they use the KITES (Kits In Teaching Elementary Science) program. KITES provide students with hands-on learning experiences in the field of science. When students enter high school, they have rigorous Physical Education requirements that promote health and wellness. Once students are in high school, they are expected to research, create, and maintain fitness plans that best suit their own needs.
