Chalk Talk: What to Look for When Finding a Tutor for Your Child
There are many considerations when looking into tutoring for your child. The first step to finding a tutor is talking to your child’s teacher to find out what is needed and how the help can be received. Your child’s teacher will be able to tell you if tutoring is needed. Before you contact possible tutors, take time to establish what is needed. Lay out specific skills that need to be worked on and information on your child like how they learn best, what they excel at and what they struggle with. This will help you identify a tutor who will best meet the needs of your child. Next do the research to find out what tutors on in the area. Your child’s school may have information on this as well your local college or university. Word of mouth can be a good way to find tutors as well as well known or local tutoring organizations.
