Groveport District and Curriculum

Groveport’s K-12 students attend public school in the Groveport Madison School District. The district is sizeable in nature, with six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. The learning environments at each of the district’s school buildings have been developed to ensure that each child has the resources he or she needs to reach their highest possible potential. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Groveport District Curriculum

Students in Groveport participate in a in-depth study of career and technical fields. High school students examine various occupational areas in a variety of career clusters and pathways. In doing so, students acquire insight into the knowledge and skills required for careers in which they are interested. Learners also gain an understanding of the educational requirements, including any trainings or certifications, as well as the employment outlook and estimates for growth for that particular career.

Groveport’s world languages curriculum helps students acquire the skills they need to communicate on a presentational, interpretive, and interpersonal level. In the presentational mode, students learn how to deliver information to groups in verbal and written form. When giving presentations, students learn how to capture the audience’s attention by using effective presentational strategies. In the interpretive mode, students acquire the ability to effectively derive meaning from spoken words as well as words in written form. Students work on responding appropriately to those messages as well.

Keeping Informed: Recent Groveport Educational News

  • Virtual Book Club - Middle school students in Groveport can participate in Middle School North’s book club in person or online. This is a great chance to get kids involved in extracurriculars as they prepare to enter high school. Club members use social media like Twitter to have conversations about books outside of school.
  • Grant Awarded to High School - The Ohio Department of Education recently awarded Groveport Madison High School a $2,500 grant. The funds are earmarked for training for the school’s Advanced Placement teachers. In doing so, the district will be able to provide a wider selection of Advanced Placement courses for students.
  • Groveport Hosts Literacy Night - Groveport Madison Schools recently held a literacy night, and it was a huge success. More than 900 people attended the event at Groveport Madison Schools. Students were able to browse for new books in the book fair and meet characters from their favorite books.

There are benefits to having public speaking skills later in life as well. Effective speaking skills are necessary when interviewing for college admittance or when applying for jobs. The ability to communicate one’s thoughts and feelings is important to build effective interpersonal relationships as well. Good speakers develop the ability to read other people as well, including empathizing with other points of view. Public speaking also helps individuals develop advanced leadership skills that allow them to organize others and take the lead on projects.
