Gypsum District and Curriculum
Eagle County Schools is responsible for the education of students in Gypsum. The district covers nearly all of Eagle County, and includes eight elementary schools, three middle schools, four high schools, one charter school, and one ski and snowboard academy. The district is committed to providing a world-class education to its more than 6,000 students in preschool through the twelfth grade. The district has shown great improvement in student achievement in recent years, and leads the nation in innovative programs that enhance teacher performance.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Gypsum District Curriculum
Eagle County Schools engage their students in a highly rigorous curriculum that prepares them to be informed, highly skilled, and prepared for post-secondary education or the workforce. The district’s English curriculum follows the guidelines of the Colorado Achievement Standards and the Common Core State Standards. High school students hone their skills with regard to research and writing, learning to take information from various sources and compile it into a cohesive research paper.
The mathematics curriculum provides students with a sound foundation that will promote college and career readiness. At the high school level, students work with various forms of functions and learn to analyze them both graphically and algebraically. Geometry is also a central component of the curriculum. Students acquire the skills to prove theorems and describe geometric properties. Statistics and probability are learned, including making inferences from data to solve everyday problems.

- Insider’s Academy Opens District Doors to Public - Eagle County Schools invites the public to take part in the district’s Insider’s Academy. Participants in the program gain insight into how the district operates and who’s involved in decision-making processes.
- Ski and Snowboard Academy Prepares Students Academically and Athletically - The unique partnership between the academy and the Eagle County School District allows students to pursue their athletic goals while engaging in a college preparatory academic curriculum.
- Wild West Day Fundraiser - Each year, the Eagle County School District puts on a Wild West Day to raise money for district projects and programs, such as field trips and grants for teachers to purchase classroom equipment and materials. Last year more than $17,000 was raised and the goal this year is to surpass that.
