King District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The local districts use the learning model put forth in the Ontario Curriculum to guide instructional planning, classroom teaching, and assessments that measure students’ proficiency in core academic subjects. The curriculum organizes the delivery of knowledge in each subject, establishing objectives for learning that students must meet. These objectives are the basis for end-of-year assessments; they show what students have learned, areas in which students excel, and areas in which there needs to be more instruction. Buildings are staffed with caring, responsible, and highly trained teachers who devise learning experiences that are engaging and challenging. Students acquire various skills needed for success, and attain knowledge that will help them become ready for college or career.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the King District Curriculum
In English, the early years focus on basic literacy and communication skills so that students have the means to express their complex thoughts in their later school years. Writing is one of the major strands in the English curriculum and students learn to draft, write, revise, and edit their writing so that they are producing clear and meaningful texts of their own. Critical and creative thinking is developed through the different opportunities for literary or textual response in the classroom environment. This gradual compounding of knowledge is effective in laying a foundation that students can rely on.
The curriculum was set up so that during elementary school students are gaining the foundation of knowledge which will prepare them for advanced work in secondary school. Students develop problem-solving skills in all areas of Math and Science during elementary school, and then in secondary school begin to take an in-depth approach to topics like Biology, Physics and Chemistry and Geometry, Algebra and Data Analysis.

Keeping Informed: Recent King Educational News
- PRO Grants - Parents Reaching Out is a grant-funding organization for eduators in the York Catholic District. These grants can be used for a range of school-based initiatives and serve as a significant boost to the extracurricular offerings at the schools.
