Educating Our Parents: Understanding the La Quinta District Curriculum

The framework for learning in Math, teaches students to solve problems across the content areas such as geometry, algebra and the more advanced math topics. In the Sciences, students are instructed in fundamental principles within science and the process of scientific inquiry. While learning about these subjects, the skills also promote problem-solving type thought that students will use in other classes.

The framework for Language Arts bolsters learning across the curriculum. Students are taught to read not just literature, but also informational texts. They are taught skills for comprehending both and for their language development. Writing is a major focus and students learn to write expositorily, persuasively and clearly. The development of processes for writing and the development of other communication skills like listening and speaking are also brought in to teaching and learning.
