Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Middleborough District Curriculum

The district provides curriculum brochures for each elementary grade for math and literacy. On the math brochures, there is information on the critical areas of math that are focused on, a summary of the learning that will occur throughout the year, the district’s vision statement and belief statements for math specifically in grades PK-5, and an overview of the relevant learning standards.

Middleborough’s Elementary Math Belief Statements include that all students can learn math, should have full access to a wide range of mathematical materials and experiences, can use strategies in solving problems and persevere in figuring them out, can effectively express mathematical ideas and work collaboratively, and can use technology to enhance their learning in math. The literacy brochures are more generalized to the elementary school level as a whole, detailing the district’s guiding principles for what an effective English language arts curriculum is and does and the lengthy Elementary Literacy Vision Statement; however, grade-level specific benchmarks are included as well.

  • Dozens of Students Successfully Complete Trooper Program - The Massachusetts State Police hold a trooper program annually, and this year, 81 local students completed and graduated from it.
