Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Millburn District Curriculum

The Millburn Township Public Schools are dedicated to providing students with an engaging, well-rounded education based on best practices and developed using research-based methods. The driving force behind the math and language arts curricula is the Common Core State Standards. These standards have been adopted by states across the nation in an effort to standardize the math and language arts curriculum that public school students engage in.

Reflecting the increasingly global nature of our society and America’s role in the world, an integral component of the social studies curriculum is an in-depth study of world history and global issues. This curriculum is designed to foster the development of students’ analytic skills as it pertains to investigation of past events and examination of how past events impact the present. Within this context, students compare and contrast social interactions between peoples throughout history, their interactions with the environment, the development of written and spoken language and the impact of religion.
