South Pasadena District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The schools of South Pasadena use detailed curriculum to guide conceptual and skill-level teaching, learning, and assessment. This process is central to the design of the curriculum. The classroom and standardized assessments that students take are intended not just to gauge student proficiency and achievement, but also to understand which skills require more instruction in whole grades and where significant gains have been made in a school.
In the subject of Language Arts, students develop both phonetic and word awareness with their opportunities to read, write, express themselves verbally, and to listen to other speakers. Scaffolding skills can be modeled, discussions about literature can build analytic and interpretative skills, and the opportunity to write allows students to analyze their thoughts on a topic.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the South Pasadena District Curriculum
In Math, students are introduced to topics of number and algebraic operations, measurement and computation, and data analysis using different tools and visual aids. As students progress from K-12, the ability to problem-solve informs the ability to reason abstractly and quantitatively, which is one of the key goals of the Math curriculum.
In Science, the fields of Biology and Life Science, Earth Science, Chemistry and Physics are the main content areas, and through all a focus on investigating and experimenting is a primary goal. Besides the base of that students gain about science and scientific facts, the process of theorizing and proving is key to students ability to take on next generation learning challenges. With the problem-solving skills they develop through their education, the ability to take on these challenges is within any child's reach.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.
