Springdale District and Curriculum

Princeton City Schools is the sole public school district in Springdale. There are ten schools in the district, which serve the educational needs of children in kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Springdale District Curriculum

English students in Springdale build the knowledge and skills they need to be proficient readers of literature. Middle school students learn how to identify the central theme of literary works, and analyze how the author is able to develop characters over the course of the book. Students analyze inferences made in the text, including with respect to the thought process of primary characters. Learners critically read texts, examining the dialogue to determine how specific lines in the story or events in the plot propel the story forward.

Students in Springdale learn about American history as part of the social studies curriculum. History students gain an appreciation for how the United States was formed and the challenges that the country and its residents faced in the first years after the Revolutionary War. Students examine many sources from the early, mid, and late 1800s to explore the processes by which the nation unified. The curriculum emphasizes modern American history, with a deep exploration of topics from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Keeping Informed: Recent Springdale Educational News

  • PHS Students Display Skills - STEM students from Princeton High School recently participated in an exposition of their knowledge and skills. Students constructed cranes and tested them to see how much weight they could hold.
  • Students, Staff Collect Winter Clothes - The Princeton Closet is overflowing with donations of winter clothing, thanks to the efforts of students and staff members. The Princeton Closet also collects school supplies for distribution to area students.
  • District Welcome Center - Families new to Princeton City Schools can visit the district’s welcome center. Families can register and enroll their students, and inquire about district services and the various programs offered at the schools at the Welcome Center.
