St. Clair Shores District and Curriculum

Lakeview Public School District subscribes to the Grade Level Content Expectations starting in kindergarten. The highly effective teaching standards are based on educational research and the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks Content Standards. These provide the key objectives that teachers need to meet with their students and which students need to attain proficiency in to be prepared for the next year.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the St. Clair Shores District Curriculum

From Kindergarten forward the students are taught Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Skills and are tested on Comprehension, Metacognition, and Critical Standards in literacy. Math skills begin in kindergarten as well and continue throughout elementary school as the foundation for a successful academic career. From factoring numbers in 5th grade to Reasoning about Numbers, Systems and Quantitative Situations in high school students are continuously challenged to exceed in their ability to do complex math.
