St. Clair Shores District and Curriculum
Lakeview Public School District subscribes to the Grade Level Content Expectations starting in kindergarten. The highly effective teaching standards are based on educational research and the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks Content Standards. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the St. Clair Shores District Curriculum
From Kindergarten forward the students are taught Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Skills and are tested on Comprehension, Metacognition, and Critical Standards in literacy. Math skills begin in kindergarten as well and continue throughout elementary school as the foundation for a successful academic career. From factoring numbers in 5th grade to Reasoning about Numbers, Systems and Quantitative Situations in high school students are continuously challenged to exceed in their ability to do complex math.
The Science curriculum covers topics in earth and environmental science, biology, physics and chemistry, and technology/ Technology is taught about in such ways that students understand how it has transformed our world and continues to do so in the process of scientific discovery and innovation. The goals are to help students recognize the value of change in the world.
