Tolland District and Curriculum

The Tolland Public Schools houses a total of four schools including one primary school, one intermediate school, one middle school, and one high school. Striving for excellence through individual success, Tolland Public Schools utilizes the Connecticut Common Core State Standards in Reading and Mathematics and the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium for student assessment. Tolland School District also utilizes curriculum maps that include scope and sequence of content and skills, core materials, textbooks, and measurable student learning objectives.

We currently cover the following Tolland-area school district: Tolland Public Schools.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Tolland District Curriculum

Beginning in primary and intermediate school, students explore a variety of academic content areas such as mathematics, reading, language arts, science, and social studies. In addition, students are exposed to physical education, library/media art, and music to enhance their educational experience. Those subject areas along with world languages, technology, and business education carry through middle and high school with advanced coursework being offered for students who meet the requirements.

For students who are seeking a non-tradition approach, the district offers more flexible scheduling, a standards-based curriculum that focuses on students mastering the essential standards, small class sizes of about 10 students per room, a program that allows students to recover credits that they may have lost from previously failed classes, dual enrollment with courses that allow students to earn both high school and college credits, accelerated graduation, and the ability to earn a high school diploma.
