Walnut District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The curriculum in use in Walnut is designed to teach students a series of skills and a base of knowledge that allows them to understand the major concepts within each subject and to be able to take on new learning challenges. Each subject has a curricular framework that details the grade-by-grade expectations for learning. The expectations, which are the subject-area skill sets, serve as the basis for instructional planning and assessments that verify students are proficient in the content.

The curricula for Math and Science is designed to provide students with a range of problem-solving and investigatory strategies. In Math, students are instructed in the standard topics of numeracy, measurement and geometry, data analysis, and algebraic operations. From each topic students derive new problem-solving strategies and increase the tools they have available to them. In Science, the goal is to teach the topics of Earth Science, Biology and Life Science, Physics, and Chemistry in conjunction with the processes of investigation and experimentation.

We currently cover the following Walnut-area school district: Walnut Valley Unified School District.
