Chalk Talk: Great Reasons to Take AP Classes

Advanced Placement (AP) classes offer high school students an opportunity to engage in highly rigorous curricula that fosters the development of higher-ordered thinking skills. These courses dive deeper into the content and require students to demonstrate a greater understanding of the material. Advanced Placement courses help students develop skills they will need in college, such as time management, critical thinking skills, and advanced language skills. These courses look great on college applications and can help high school students narrow their focus on a potential major. Since Advanced Placement courses are offered for college credit, they save students time and money as well. With the credits they earn by successfully passing the Advanced Placement exams, their college schedules have room for more elective courses or courses of interest.
