Chalk Talk: Educational Programs

Students need to be encouraged by parents and teachers to engage in extracurricular activity that offers health benefits and balance with homework. However, watching television is a natural part of children's lives. However, parents need to guide their children to watching educational programs in French, in the arts and spirituality and channels that cater to nurturing the intellectual side. It is important that parents screen their children's choices to ensure that they are not watching a heavy amount of content with violence as studies have shown that it promotes aggressive behavior, anti-social tendencies and influences children to use aggressive and violent strategies in dealing with conflict. Conflict and fantasy are natural parts of a child's television regime but they can affect how a child sees and relates to the world and others around him or her and even how others get treated. The more that educational programs are sponsored on television, the more we can expect that students will develop a passion for learning and growth.
