I aim, as a teacher or tutor, to bring an open mind, a positive attitude, and high expectations to the classroom each day. I also believe that the purpose of a teacher or tutor is broaden a student’s mind and give them the skills needed in order to succeed in life and their chosen field. With English, they will be able to convey their thoughts eloquently and succinctly, not only in speech, but also through their writing.
I have 2 BAs (Liberal Studies and English) and I’m almost done with my MA in English. I am the first person on both sides of my family to obtain a degree; because of this, I have been very driven, motivated, and dedicated to my work.
I taught grammar and writing to foreign exchange students from South Korea, as well as guest lecturing in upper division college courses at California State University:Bakersfield. I have also tutored K-college students in English and linguistics since 2008. In these experiences, I have found my passion for teaching and helping others learn English literature, linguistics, and writing concepts.
I participated in two research competitions, which I won 1st place at my university each time. I also attended three conferences. At each conference, I gave a paper to my peers.
