I believe that personalized education plans that start with current and authentic assessment levels provide accountable programs to optimize student’s learning. Every student learns at their own rate with different strategies. Teaching to the whole child is conducive to optimal learning.
I hold a degree in child and youth care with a focus on special education and early childhood education. I also hold a diploma in applied linguistics. My teacher education focuses on the elementary level K-7 learning assistance and English language learners.
I have taught grade 3, a 3/4 split, summer school for emergent readers and English language learners. I currently teach learning assistance for struggling readers and English language learners.
I am part of the school base team: our role is to review students that are being referred for services such as learning services, speech therapy, counselling and psych ed referrals. I also plan and participate in various school activities such as Run for Water or Parent Appreciation Tea.
