As a teacher, I feel all students are capable of learning. It is the task of the adults to determine which way students learn best and play off the strengths of the students. Students need to feel teachers are invested in their future, not just in a test score. It is important to educate the whole child.
I graduated from Valdosta State University in 2000 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2010, I earned a Master’s in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. My most recent degree is a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashford University. I feel it is important to continue to grow in knowledge and strategies.
I have been teaching elementary age students since 2000. I taught in GA for ten years and then my family and I relocated to NC where I currently teach. I have experience teaching first, fourth, and fifth grade.
My extracurricular activities include volunteering for weekend tasks at my elementary school. I enjoy reading adult novels as well as children novels. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my children. They enjoy going to local parks or taking walks in Uptown Charlotte.
