What I learned from my favorite high school teacher was that a good learning environment is a place where a student feels comfortable. I would like to follow this example and help students reach their full potential by challenging them in an active and fun learning environment. Part of my philosophy of education is that teaching is a two way street. Teachers learn from students as much as students learn from teachers.

After obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at Concordia University, I returned to school to train as a medical laboratory technologist. As a medical professional, I maintain my membership in the professional organizations through yearly continuing education activities. In 2014, I completed my TESL certificate at Concordia University. I guess you could say that I am a life long learner.

My experience in formal educational settings includes reading stories to elementary school children and teaching ESL to a small groups of new adult immigrants. During my scientific career, I have acted as a technical resource and trainer to new employees. In addition, I coached a little league soccer team.

I like to paint and play with polymer clay. In the summmer, I enjoy gardening. I ride horses in the English riding style. I occasionally volunteer at our local elementary school.
