Understanding
EQAO Assessments

Ontario’s Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) administers provincewide assessments for all students starting in grade 3. In grades 3 and 6, students’ reading, writing, and mathematics abilities are assessed. High school students must complete the grade 9 math assessment and must also pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) in order to receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. All four of these assessments typically occur in the Spring, with the high school tests often also taking place in Fall or Winter. For more information on these assessments you can check out our blog or visit the EQAO website.
