I believe that all students are capable of learning. Students should be active participants in their education by setting goals and being engaged in learning. Students need to be challenged and encouraged to explore and learn from their mistakes. It is important to instill a love of learning at an early age by creating a personalized learning experience.
I attended the University of Delaware for 4 years. I studied Elementary and Special Education. I completed student teaching in both areas. I also completed extra coursework to become highly qualified in Reading/English.
I have taught Special Education, grades first through third, for 1.5 years in Clarksville, TN. I also have experience teaching first grade general education. Over the past 6 months, I have worked with children with Autism as a Behavior Specialist.
I enjoy participating in professional development to further my knowledge as a teacher. I feel that it is important to keep up to date on current teaching practices. I also enjoy photography in my free time.
