Get Your Child Ready for the SBA

SchoolTutoring Academy’s SBA Tutoring Programs start with an ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT with an Academic Director. This assessment informs your child’s SBA tutor about their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses so the tutoring program can be tailored to their specific needs. Our SBA Tutoring Program includes regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Understanding
the SBA

Nevada state testing begins in 3rd grade. Elementary testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics occurs yearly from 3rd to 8th grade via the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA). Students also take Science assessments in 5th and 8th grade. Once in high school, students are tested once more in Science along with the ACT plus Writing in 11th grade. Alternative Assessments in these subjects also exist for students with cognitive disabilities or whose individualized educational program (IEP) specifically calls for such assessment. For more information on the SBA you can visit the Nevada Department of Education website.
