Understanding
SD Assessments
The South Dakota’s assessment system begins in 3rd grade. Elementary testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics occurs yearly from 3rd to 8th grade. Students also take the SD Science Assessment in 5th and 8th grade. Once in high school, students a final set of assessments in 11th grade, covering ELA, Mathematics, and Science.
