Grandview District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Grandview School District follows the Washington State Standards for all core subjects and grade levels. The standards build on each other as students move through the grades. The curriculum has multiple goals. One goal of the curriculum in the district is to ensure the students have the foundational level skills needed to be successful in a 21st century society. In addition, students need to have the critical thinking, literacy, and communication skills that enable connections to real world experiences.
In order to graduate from the district, students must complete four years of English, three years of Math and two years of Science. After completing the first two years of English Composition, the final two years of the English requirement may be met through a variety of electives. Students can study media, technical writing, and advanced courses in literature. Algebra 1 and Geometry are the only required Math courses, and students will have options for their third year of math. Students must take Biology and one year of a Physical Science. These experiences bring about the analytic and problem-solving foundation needed for advanced learning.
