About Me

SUBJECTS

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

My educational philosophy is every child can learn. With time and patience every child can be successful. Instruction must be differentiated and engaging to reach all learners. It takes a village to raise a child.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

My bachelors degree is in Urban Forestry. I developed a love for science in high school when I worked for the US Forest Service. I worked at the Boys and Girls club where I developed a passion for teaching.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

All of my teaching experiences shaped me into who I am today. I began teaching in 2000 as a fifth grade teacher. Following that, I took a short hiatus from teaching, returning in 2005 as a fifth grade teacher, in which I did well enough that a few years later, I became the science teacher and department chair at a local middle school. I currently work as an educational specialist in science.

My most rewarding is when we took our students to the Perot Museum in Dallas. It was amazing to see our students face light up to the exhibits. It led me to teach the food chain while we were in the ecosystem exhibit.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I wrote a grant called “Delete Cyberbullying” and was rewarding money to implement the program. During bully week we had a anti bullying rally where the students were able to participate and share their ideas on how to stomp out bullying.
