The learning process is a chain: each link is essential to the others, and the total is as strong as the weakest link. Children learn differently and different teaching techniques are required to complete each link in their learning chain.
I received a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
I have been an elementary school teacher since the 1980s. I have not taught school continually due to my health and the health of my son. However, I have taught in several public schools and two private schools. Having been in the educational system for many years has given me the experiences to be an effective teacher with a large skill set of learning methods.
I have taught 4th grade whole language arts and 6th grade math, science, social studies in a public school. I taught reading skills in a private school for one year. I was also an elementary school librarian for six years in a private school setting.
I am an avid flower and vegetable gardener. My husband and I grow water lilies and lotus in our backyard. We also have two fish ponds with goldfish and koi. Being a member of our local garden club has allowed me to vastly improve my gardening skills.
