Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Marysville District Curriculum
The English Language Arts curriculum utilizes the Common Core Curriculum established in 2011. This curriculum details strands that the students follow from kindergarten to high school. This application of the curriculum enables students to build on what they already know to become literate citizens of the 21st century and ready for college and career goals. Some of the courses offered as upper division electives are American Literature, European Literature, Poetry, Societies of the Future and Sports Literature.
The Math curriculum follows the Washington State Standards and prepares students for advanced math through an Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2 sequence. In addition to the math skills gained in the areas of number sense, algebraic expressions, probability, and data analysis, students work on problem solving, reasoning and critical thinking. These skills are widely applicable in other subjects and real-world challenges.

If it asked why the student is choosing this college, a few mentions of the program they offer being a fit for the student, but the use of the skills learned in grammar class could make one stand out from another. Try to avoid using too many clichés as many admissions offices have seen the same phrases multiple times. Instead one or two that fit the prompt and the writer would be fine.
